The MFSA through its Financial Supervisory Academy recently hosted the Future of Securities Supervision conference, aimed at tackling the dynamic financial landscape amidst new laws and regulations coming into the fore and the effects of technology.
Esteemed speakers from ESMA, the European Commission stakeholders, and various European regulators shared expert insights. Discussions centered around the 2035 outlook, the Capital Markets Union, SupTech, and the impact of AI on financial services and then specifically on securities regulation.
Among the distinguished guest speakers was GTG’s Managing Partner, Dr Ian Gauci. Dr Gauci delivered a comprehensive presentation on the effect of the AI Act on the financial services sector and the interplay of the different regulatory authorities as well as laws in this area.
Additionally, Dr Gauci also participated as a panelist, contributing to discussions on the effect of AI in particular on Suptech, Comptech and Regtech initiatives in Europe .
