Dr Josef Cachia Fenech Gonzi has extensive experience working in the corporate industry, having worked with several firms, including holding the position of Head of Legal at a large Maltese audit firm for several years and previously as an in-house legal counsel for a technology company. Having been involved in a number of significant projects, he regularly advises and assists clients with complex corporate restructurings, including mergers and acquisitions, as well as other company law matters. He has also assisted clients with public listing on the Malta Stock Exchange and Prospects MTF.

Throughout the years, he has assisted a number of clients on various financial services regulatory and compliance matters. In addition to having acted as director for a local VFA Agent, he has assisted clients in obtaining licences issued by the MFSA as well as providing ongoing regulatory advisory. This includes work on VFA services licences, IVFAOs, investment services licences, company services providers licences as well as work in relation to payment services.

Dr Cachia Fenech Gonzi, also has extensive experience in AML/CFT advisory, having held the position of compliance officer and risk officer in different regulated entities. He has also gained comprehensive experience in intellectual property matters, more specifically in trademarks, as well as contract drafting and negotiations. He is regularly involved with drafting and negotiating contracts, which may range from simpler lease agreements to complex corporate merger agreements. He has also undertaken a number of GDPR-related audits, guiding clients on numerous data protection matters and occupied the position of data protection officer for a number of different entities.

Dr Cachia Fenech Gonzi graduated as Doctor of Laws from the University of Malta in 2011 and subsequently read for a Masters in Financial Services at the same university. He was admitted to the Maltese bar in 2012.
